Founded in 1947, KMCPL began as a manufacturer of toiletries, cosmetics and perfumeries. In 1968, Gala of London, U.K. took a majority stake in the Company and transferred all its brands for the Indian Sub Continent to the company. Brands like Gala of London, Outdoor Girl and Miners are part of the portfolio of brands that the Company manufactures and markets.

In 2009, the Company was taken over by Mr. Dinesh Advani. A new management team headed by Mr. Gautam Sarkar was put in place. Under the new leadership a new vision has been set up "TO PROVIDE AFFORDABLE COSMECTICS TO CONSUMERS" Keeping this vision in mind ,the process of restructuring and reengineering has begun. In a short span, the company has set up depots across the country. A network of distributors and stockists has been appointed. An ERP package has been implemented. All the branches are now connected online. Within three years the company sees itself as a top three colour cosmetic company in India.
